Christmas In Paris 2005
Monday December 26, 2005
Last day on
holiday. And It Snowed. It is 2:40 and there is about 4 hours
left to sleep.
It
became a busy day. Airport limo (large van) showed up at 10:00am and
got us off to the airport. I had purchased Absynthe at the local
stores in Paris, and found LARGE bottles at the "Duty-Free"
shop. We loaded up, except these did not feature the sugar cube
flatware. This was in the airport, and the hardware could have been
used as weapons, no doubt.
We had lots of time to kill, this time, having been bumped off last spring
on the return voyage.
We
were late taking off, but that was not a problem. We were on our way
home, after a week of mystery and awe. I can never say enough about
Paris, and LIVING in an apartment for a real holiday week was
special. We ate at our leisure, Lord knows we drank at our
leisure. We saw the things we wanted, missed some of the areas that
we wanted to visit..but to take it all at a leisurely pace, it had as much
crammed into a day as we possibly could.
We
were a little anxious to see the cats, worthless hair-bags, they are a
touchstone for us when we travel. "How are the cats
doing?" We got the exact same airplane and seats on the return
flight. Marsha's monitor was
not functioning as well as it could have, and we noticed it again.
Flying home is always melancholy.
It is nice to be home, with the DAMN CATS, but traveling
is so much fun. We walked down by the River Seine after dinner on occasion,
and went over to the Christmas
tree at Notre Dame cathedral. We had gotten to know the waiter at
the Indian Restaurant,
and waved to him as we passed. English was easier for him,
also. Having an apartment lent an air of stability to our
stay. We were not accommodating
maids and desk clerks. We were living in the Latin Quarter, and it
was a great time to be alive, with an appetite
for food, spirits, and mankind.
