Traveling with Number 86 is an experience.  He is a stuffed sheep from the Serta mattress commercials and he has been to Australia and now is going with us around France and Italy.  Today we drove around...still looking for a place to wash clothes.  We found a place on the side of the road in some remote area of Tuscany.  I  only consider it remote, as I couldn't tell you the name of the town it was near.  This was a place to eat.  It looked like it specialized in serving the people looking for the Tuscany Country Experience.  It was an experience.

We walked in a very large Restaurant that had a ton of merchandise, wines, oils, breads, jams, a major upscale country market with crafts and soaps and all the stuff made in the area.  It had a huge.300 to 500 seat dining room with a large piazza overlooking a farm valley and was across from another  mountain.  We chose to eat outside.  Marsha ran back out to the car to get the camera and jackets as it was a bit nippy.  It was around 1:00 in the afternoon and lunch was on the agenda.  All of the local folk were eating inside, as the chilled mountain air was a bigger issue than the PHENOMENAL view out on the piazza.  We were the only ones out there, and and sat at the wall that kept our table from falling the hundreds of feet to the sheep trail below.  Our buddy, Number 86 had found family in the valley.  We ordered wine and a couple of different pizzas.

The sheep were wandering from the lake to another part of the valley and it was all so magical.  Maybe it was the wine, but we took half the  bottle with us, as we were still driving in a foreign land and the whole bottle would have been too much for pilot and co-pilot.  If you have ever visited Zehnders or the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth Michigan, you have a clue of all the things that a smart business man will sell along with a good meal.  We bought soaps and little stuff, treats and such for later.

It was a great afternoon meal and we got Number 86 a little sauced, also.  We hit the road again and eventually made our way back to Montisi, with no laundry facilities found.  Amazing, go looking for a Maytag and find a piazza at a villa with a little frigid air that helped to keep the experience to ourselves.  What a wonderful day.  And Dinner.... read on... it is chronicled on day 12.
